THE CRY OF THE HUMBLE

God regards not high looks and lofty words; neither is He impressed, even with the pomp and pageantry of men in high places. He listens not to the swell of today's music, nor does He regard the triumph and pride of man. Wherever there is a heart big with sorrow or a lip quivering with agony, or a deep groan, or a fervent sigh of faith, there His ears will be open. He will always keep these utterances in the registry of His heart, but there will be times when He might lay them, like a fragrant rose leaf, upon the pages of another day.

To be cherished and beloved in His presence each day is sufficient to meet our every need; to be His child is our great and significant worth.

--------

With this heart you have given me

I will serve you wholly.

I will treasure your loving-kindness

And I will love you solely.

How greatly you have loved me, Lord

With a passion undefiled

How sweet is your embracing kiss

Upon this stained and lowly brow.
